Jumping out to a 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the 2nd behind the hitting of Cassie Ruhl, Reagan Marchant, and Edy McGoldrick, the Lady Seahawks looked to end a 6 game skid while visiting their “bridge” rivals. The bottom of the second took the shine off of that goal, and the third ended it completely, as the Bobcats scored 18 runs on only seven hits. The Seahawks committed seven errors, all within those two Bluffton at-bats, along with walking 8 batters and hitting two others, one with the bases loaded to force in a run. Only 6 of the runs were earned against Hilton Head pitching as the defense was either clean and effective (1st and 4th) or struggling mightily (2nd and 3rd). Ray went the distance for Bluffton to earn the win, while also driving in three runs on two of Bluffton’s hits. Quich also had two hits for the Bobcats, while Nix drove in three runs with a base clearing double.
