The Hilton Head Boy’s Varsity Lacrosse Team came up one goal short on Wednesday evening, falling 14-13 to Porter-Gaud in overtime.
Offensively, the Seahawks were lead by juniors Will Frith (6 Goals) and Max Boyer (6 Goals and 1 Assist). Also registering points were senior Matt Maldonado (1 Goal and 1 Assist) and sophomore Isaiah Shatz (1 Assist).
Frith controlled the faceoff X by going 20/27 and registered thirteen groundballs in the process. Additionally Boyer added two successful draws of his own to what was already a career night.
Defensively, sophomore Drew Schlesener earned his first career start, finishing with 13 saves. Combining for a stout defensive performance were junior defensemen Nick Magnin (5 Groundballs), Cole Benson (3 Groundballs, 1 Interception, and 1 Takeaway), and Luke Fromdahl (1 Takeaway).
“Tonight was a tough way to end a great game,” said Head Coach Will Callegari. “Despite the outcome, I very proud of the way we battled the entire night. We called on some younger players to step up, and they did. If a few balls bounce one way instead of the other, maybe we come away with the win. But in the end, Porter-Gaud made some plays and took advantage of a few opportunities and we did not. We know what we need to fix, and we will for Saturday.”
