The Hilton Head Boy’s lacrosse team started their Greenville trip on the right foot by beating Greenville High School 10-8 Friday night. The Seahawks started the game sluggish as they gave up a quick three goal lead. However for the rest of the game, they clawed their way back in, ultimately completing the come from behind win.
Leading the offense were a host of Seahawks, led by sophomores Will Frith (2 goals), Max Boyer (2 goals) and Whit Molloy (4 goals). Also scoring were: Reed Parker (1 goal), Jake Rader (1 assist) and Colin Courtney (1 goal and 1 assist).
Defensively, senior Chris Valentino anchored the defense with 12 saves between the pipes. Joining him were Colin Courtney (13 GBs, 2 TAs), Frith (9 GBs), Molloy (7 GBs, 3TAs, 1 INT), Jordan Singleton (3 TAs), and Nick Magnin (1 TA).
At the faceoff X, Frith was masterful, winning 17 out of 18 draws. Joining him was freshman Hake Patrick (2 for 3). “These two guys really kept us in the game tonight,” said Coach Callegari.
Its was an overall team effort, and it showed. The Seahawks dominated the second half, erasing their early first half miscues by out scoring the Red Raiders 6-1.
“I could not be more proud of the way we battled tonight” said Head Coach Will Callegari. “We finished a six hour bus drive, and came out of the gates flat. But instead of rolling over, we came back fighting. Greenville was a good team, and they definitely made us earn it tonight. We faced adversity and overcame it. Absolutely a great step in what we are trying to do.”
